The Archangels (大天使, Daitenshi, Arch-Spirits in the English version of the 2001 anime series), or the Mobile Angels (機動天使, Kidō Tenshi),[1] are the spirits of the X-Laws. They are a type of tsukumogami, created from various vehicles that gained a spirit.[2]
The Archangels were created by having a priest call upon the spirits of the real angels and then through a hard process, fusing them with the spirits of the cars, thus giving birth to mechanical nature spirits.[3] In truth, it was Luchist Lasso who once ventured into the Big Heaven, the second highest stage within the Great Spirit, and took "pieces" of the real Archangels and brought to this world to create the artificial angels.[1] While not real angels, their reiryoku are almost at Kami Class.[3]
Marco himself reveals that the true form of the Archangels is their car form. Using the Over Soul, the Archangel's car form can be driven by their Shamans.[4] If the shamans' minds focus more on the devices than their religious pieties in angels when summoning the spirits, the colorations of the mechanical archangels may alter.[5]
In its archangel form, it has a slim body wielding a sword and carrying a large shield on its left shoulder with a weight scale and a pentagram of five stars imprinted on it. It is easily able to break Harusame, when Asakura Yoh attacks Marco to protect Bill Burton. It is first seen impaling Boris Tepes Dracula with its sword and later uses its powers to shatter his body and soul completely.
Michael originates from a red[5] '92 Ferrari Testarossa that was so important to Marco, it gained a spirit. Marco explains that his Testarossa was created for someone who was very rich and is most likely the last of its kind in the world. Aside from its angelic powers, it can also be turned into an Over Soul shaped as a white version of its original supercar.[2]
Description: Zelel, also known as Zaphiel, Zeruel, and Zaphkiel which name means "God's knowledge", is an angelic prince named as one of the chiefs of the angelic choir of cherubim. He is also sometimes said to be chief of the thrones; the ruling angel of the planet Saturn; and a special patron of Noah, guiding him in the building of the ark and helping to ensure the survival of his family. It is possible that he can be equated with the angel Zaphkiel listed as an archangel and head of the choir of thrones-but some scholars dispute this.
This archangel O.S. is housed within Sword No-008 "Lyserg Derringer" which was given to Lyserg after being officially inducted into the X-Laws. This O.S. manifests in the form of the 8th angel, Zelel, which is the spirit of the rare roadster, blue[5] Lotus Elise. Zelel has a slender build and has its wings on its hips. Aside from its angelic powers, it is very nimble and can even transform into vehicle form for travel. Until Lyserg was given Zelel it was chained up in the X-Laws weapon storage on their cargo ship.[9]
Description: Raphael, meaning "God has healed", also known as St. Raphael the Archangel and Rafa'il in Arabic are one of the seven archangels and one of the best-loved of all angels. Raphael is honored as the regent of the sun, the angel of healing, the angel of science, the angel of knowledge, head of the guardian angels, and chief of the angelic orders of virtues, although he is also a member of the cherubim, the domination, and the cherubim. Raphael is said to possess the happiest disposition of any of the angels, having as well the best sense of humor. He delights in bringing health, happiness, and joy everywhere he goes and encourages the guardian angels in their work. He holds a flaming sword.

Description: When confronting Hao for one last time, John Denbat knows that just recklessly attacking him with their Archangels or even launching a 1000-ton nuclear bomb on him, would not do anything. Therefore he uses his connections with the British government to gain access to a military defense satellite that is also a laser. By using it as a medium for his Archangel Raphael, he powers up the laser and decides to use himself as a target.[12]

Sariel has authority over the spirits (or children) of humankind who have sinned in the spirit. In occult circles, he is one of the nine angels of the summer equinox and can protect against the evil eye.

This archangel has the power of thunder and is incredibly lightweight, attacking by emitting electric shocks from both of his hands. This Over Soul is very stable thanks to his outstanding strength and speed. He is as calm as Cebin, so they seldom lose their cool when fighting and defeating enemies.[14]
During Team "X-III" fight against Asakura Hao, Cebin himself targeted Hao with Remiel saying that even if he controls his own resurrection, Remiel was the angel controlling death. However as he attacked Hao, the Spirit of Fire easily crushed and burned Remiel and Cebin too who was crushed to death beneath Remiel.
Description: When all of the X-Laws (except Marco Lasso and Iron Maiden Jeanne) were dead, Lyserg was their only hope. Thus, Iron Maiden Jeanne gave him full control of all the Archangels, which he fused together with his own fairy spirit, forming a gigantic, angelic Morphine, wearing Archangel-type armor. Amongst others, it has its arms from Remiel, its shoulder amour from Uriel, its arms from Gabriel, the skirt armor of Sariel, the Halo from Michael, the helmet from Sariel, and Michael and Metatron's wings.
